African Basic Education Ministers agree to collaborate, prioritise Foundational Learning for the African Union Year of Education

Lusaka: November 1, 2023: Ten African Ministers of Education and 11 ministerial representatives collectively agreed to champion foundational learning as a priority for the 2024 African Union Year of Education (AUYoE) and beyond. They also resolved to rally their respective Heads of State to be “Champions of Foundational Learning”.

Abidjan, 23rd October 2023 – President Hakainde Hichilema of Zambia will open a two-day High-Level Policy Dialogue Forum (HLPDF) on Foundational Learning. The event organized by the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA) and hosted by the Government of Zambia through the Ministry of Education will hold in Lusaka, Zambia between the 31st of October and 1st of November 2023.

From 31st October to 1st November, ADEA will hold the annual High-Level Policy Dialogue Forum (HLPDF) on foundational learning in Lusaka, Zambia, in collaboration with the Government of Zambia and key partners. This year’s forum is themed "Building a New Africa through Rethinking Foundational Learning."
African Education Ministers take stock of Country Level progress on Foundational Learning

Education stakeholders across Africa, including ministers, ministerial representatives and partners, convened virtually on Thursday, 7th September, 2023 and took stock of country-level progress one year after the commitments made at the Transforming Education Summit (TES) and the ADEA 2022 Triennale. Speakers at the virtual event, convened by the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA) and Human Capital Africa (HCA), agreed to prioritise evidence-based and contextually relevant interventions and support countries in scaling initiatives with proven results.
